Naxos Island is one of the most traditional and beautiful of Greek Islands, with charming villages, impressive archaeological sites, a natural setting and some of the finest beaches in the Cyclades. Apollonas is famous for the ancient unfinished statue of Dionysos , which is about 12 metres long. You can visit Portara, the main landmark of Naxos, which is a giant entrance and the only remnant of an ancient temple dedicated to Apollo found on the island of "Palatia". You should take advantage of convenience and visit the Venetian Castle, in Naxos Town. It remains intact from the years of Venetian empire (1207 - 1564) and is an important part of Naxos’ history. There are more than 40 small villages on the island you can visit, each carrying its own history and traditions.

Travel information

If you come by boat to the Island, there is a bus at the end of the dock that leaves for Apollon at 1:30p.m. This bus connects Apollon with Chora, also in the winter season. There is also a daily bus at 7:00 a.m. from Apollon to Chora. You can use it to catch the morning boats.
