Opened in 1972, the hotel was originally funded by the Caixa Ourense bank (now Caixanova) to promote tourism in the area. In 2000, the hotel was renovated into an apart-hotel, though preserved the building's original facade.

Accommodation comprises of 52 apartments, 2 of which have disabled facilities. There are 2 superior apartments with a hydro-massage bath tub and a 40 metres squared terrace. All apartments have been furnished with good quality, modern, comfortable fittings. The layout is the following: -1 bedroom equipped with safety deposit box, built-in wardrobe, armchair and desk. -Dining/living area with Cable TV, internet connection, sofa bed and dining table. -Kitchen with vitro-ceramic hob, fridge, microwave and kitchen utensils -Fully equipped bathroom (hair dryer and shower). -Heating/air conditioning.

Food & beverage

Take advantage of your stay in Galicia to try some of the typical dishes it is renowned for on the hotel's menu; tender octopus ‘a la feira’ - octopus cut in to small pieces and seasoned with oil, paprika and salt; ‘caldeiro’ special casseroles; or a Galician ‘Empanada’ olive oil pastries filled with vegetables and tuna or meat. All should be accompanied by a good 'Ribero' wine.

Area information

Nature lovers can stroll through Carballiño park and by the banks of the picturesque river Arenteiro. The town has an ethnographic museum, Muiño do Anxo, and a fish farm. There are golf courses within 10 kilometres of the hotel. You can explore the famous wine producing town of Ribadavia and the historical Ourense, both around 25 kilometres either side of Carballiño.

Travel information

You can get to O Carballiño by both train and bus. Once in town head towards the Alameda and you will find the hotel. From Ourense by car: - Follow the N120 motorway which continues onto the N541 which leads to O Carballiño. From Vigo Airport and the A9 by car: - Follow the N550 south. - Turn left onto the A52 for Ourense. - Turn left onto the N541, following signs for O Carballino.

Quick description

Situated in the centre of Ourensana de O Carballiño, famous for its thermal springs and spas that attract many visitors each year. One such visitor was the King of Spain, who stayed in the former hotel. The town has many historical attractions, including the impressive Temple Veracruz, which combines a mixture of architectural styles. The newly constructed Aparthotel Arenteiro opened its doors in December 2006, offering 52 spacious and comfortable apartments. The hotel has a cafeteria, restaurant.
