Area information

The surrounding area offers numerous day trip destinations such as castles and palaces, and historical towns with timber-framed buildings, such as Ruhla, Creuzburg and Treffurt. Other nearby cities which are worth a visit are the historic cities of Gotha (30 km) and Weimar (80 km), the region’s capital, Erfurt (55 km) and the cultural city of Meiningen (50 km). Day trip and hiking destinations include the Burschenschaft memorial, the Drachenschlucht gorge, the Rennsteig hiking trail, Landgrafenschlucht gorge, the Sängerwiese meadow, Wilhelmsthal valley. Visit the Marienglashöhle mine, Inselsberg / Tabarz, Kyffhäuser monument and Barbarossa cave, and the colourful Feengrotten caves of Saalfeld.

Food & beverage

In the summer, drinks and snacks are served in the atrium. The breakfast buffet is on offer from 7:00 to 10:00 Monday-Saturday, and from 8:00 to 11:00 on Sundays. The lobby bar is open until 22:00.
