Our special tip: the family-owned wine tavern "Haferkast'n" in Luberegg Castle is only 2 km from the hotel.

Area information

The Wachau Valley is a 35-km long cultural landscape, which was made part of UNESCO’s World Heritage List for its wealth of cultural and historic attractions. These include wine terraces and many castles and churches, including the impressive Melk Abbey. The area is ideal for hiking and cycling, and there are also excursions by boat. Tennis, squash and bowling are available in the Melk Sports Centre, 5 km away. An institute for sports rehabilitation, physiotherapy, health training, performance diagnostics, sports coaching and massages is also located there (please book in advance). A swimming beach on the Danube is 2 km away.

By train from Vienna or Linz to Melk, then by bus to Emmersdorf. Transfer available on request. There are direct trains to Emmersdorf from Krems and St. Valentin. Transfers available on request. The closest airports are Vienna and Linz. Transfers available on request.

The charming, family-run Hotel Donauhof is located on the western entrance to the Wachau World Heritage Site, directly on the Danube Bike Trail between Passau and Vienna. The hotel offers an impressive view of the Danube and the historic market square of Emmersdorf, which is only a few steps away. Located halfway between Vienna and Linz, it is easily accessible via the A1 motorway. The Melk exit is 4 km away, the Pöchlarn exit 8 km. Hotel & Restaurant Donauhof's location provides the perfect starting point for excursions into the Wachau and to the many sights nearby. The cosy guest rooms invite you to relax and feel comfortable. A wide range of culinary specialities is served in the hotel's á la carte restaurant and on the sunny garden terrace. The family-owned wine tavern “Heuriger Haferkastn” is only 2 km away from the Donauhof. The best wines from the Wachau and traditional local dishes are served there. In addition, the hotel offers its guests many outdoor activities, such as guided bicycle tours, jogging and Nordic walking tours.
