The name of the hotel is German for the Red Bear. Not only is our hotel the oldest guesthouse in Germany (dating back to 1120), but it is among the oldest buildings in Freiburg. The long line of landlords and innkeepers can be traced directly back to the Bienger family in 1311.

Cross the Münsterplatz square and drive up to the Galeria Kaufhof department store. Turn left into the Schusterstrasse.
