Hotel information
Our hotel provides 2 separate rooms, which can be used for meetings or conferences anytime. Conferences for up to 50 persons enclosed to the restaurant, with direct view to the river Lahn; meeting room for up to 20 persons in the hotel.
Room information
The rooms are equipped with balcony/terrace, TV, radio, toilet and shower with daylight and partly with mini-bar.
Food & beverage
In the hotel "Altes Eishaus" (Old Ice House) your day will start with a rich breakfast buffet. We will serve it to you Monday - Friday 06.30 to 09.00 am and on Saturdays, Sundays and on public holidays from 08.00 to 10.00 am.
Area information
Gießen offers a wide choice of leasure and recreating facilities. Surrounded by a lovely countryside Gießen is an alive city with attractive culutural offers.
Theatre, cinema, castles, botanic garden, weekly market 2x per week, 1x per month an antique flea market, shopping in the city, indoor swimming pool and open air bath "Ringallee", fitness, tennis, squash, sauna, surfing, disco, adventure restaurant Badenburg "eating like the old knights", hiking, paddling and cycling directly nearby the river Lahn.
There are also excursions to the immediate vicinity possible such as the mine "Grube Fortuna", a city walking tour through the old town of Wetzlar or Marburg and many cycle and hiking tracks invite you to a great day including regeneration pure.
Travel information
By train:
Up from Giessen main station onward by bus or taxi (approx. 5-10 minutes drving time; 5-7 EUR) or to Oswaldsgarten, then 10 minutes walk along the embankment (approx. 5 minutes walk) until you reach the Wissmarer Weg, then turn left - within a few minutes walk you will arrive at the hotel.
Up from main station with the bus:
Take a bus line to the market place, then take the bus no. 12 towards Sandfeld to the station Sandfeld; this station is situated approx. 50 meters behind the hotel.
By car:
- from East/North take the highway A5 towards Frankfurt; exit Gießen A 480; exit Lollar; next exit Lollar; turn left towards Gießen, at the 8th traffic light turn right towards Wißmar; within 1 km you will reach the Hotel "Altes Eishaus" on the left side.
- from South take the highway A5 towards Kassel, Gambacher Kreuz towards Gießen on the highway A45, exit Gießen A485, exit Buseck/Wiesek, turn left towards Gießen, at the 2nd traffic light turn right towards Wißmar; within 1 km you will reach the hotel "Altes Eishaus" on the left side.
- from West take the highway A45 towards Frankfurt; exit towards Kassel/Marburg on highway A485; exit Buseck/Wiesek, turn left towards Gießen, at the 2ndtraffic light turn left towards Wißmar; within 1 km you will reach the Hotel "Altes Eishaus" on the left side.
