Winter sports are available in the area around Haidmühle, with 65 km of cross-country skiing trails and downhill skiing at the nearby Dreisessel ski resort. Heading along the motorway to Passau, exit at Aicha vorm Wald. Head for Freyung-Waldkirchen on the B12, and continue towards Haidmühle. On reaching Haidmühle, go uphill and pass the church, and the sign for the Hotel Hochstein in ahead on the right-hand side.
