Located in the centre of the World Heritage town of Hallstatt in Upper Austria’s Salzkammergut region, the Seehotel Grüner Baum (“Green Tree“) offers spacious and comfortable rooms with fantastic views of Lake Hallstatt. First mentioned in 1700, the lovingly renovated hotel offers a historic ambience, which has already served as a backdrop to several movies. Empress Sisi, the Austrian author Adalbert Stifter, Agatha Christie and many other personalities have stayed at this hotel. Nestling between the impressive mountains and picturesque Lake Hallstatt, the village of Hallstatt looks back at 4,500 years of history. The historic market square is its geographic and social centre. On one side, Seehotel Grüner Baum is the most impressive building on the square, while the other side of the building opens up towards the lake with an inviting terrace. Every day, the restaurant “Zum Salzbaron” serves freshly caught fish from the lake.

Important information

Please note that the centre of Hallstatt is a car-free zone, but you can drive to the hotel for unloading and loading luggage. You then need to park your car on the P1 parking outside the town. A shuttle service to the hotels is available free of charge.
