Room information

Our 10 Deluxe hotelsuites are all situated at the ground floor. Two big doors give access to your private terrace. The suites are tastefully furnished, combining the historic atmosphere of the building with modern design. The hotelsuites are provided with en-suite bathroom with bath and/or shower, hairdryer, tv, telephone, internetconnection, sitting area and dining area An extensive breakfast buffet is served every morning. If you wish, you can also use roomservice. If the weather is nice, breakfast is served outside on the terrace.

Food & beverage

Our chef Erik de Mönnink leads our (open) kitchen, where a lot of attention is given to detail, colour, taste and presentation. We make use of pure and natural ingredients and seasonal products. Opening hours of the restaurant: Every day of the week. Dinner: 18.00 – 22.00 Lunch: 12.00 – 14.00

Area information

Every season of the year lends a different charm to the beautiful surroundings of hotel De Swarte Ruijter. The autumn paints a palette of yellow and brown leaves, the winter offers breathtaking panoramic views, in springtime fresh colours dominate the countryside and our summers are purple - the colour of the heaths. De Swarte Ruijter is situated in the middle of an extensive natural park, bordering directly on the Pieterpad - the longest and best known hiking trail of the Netherlands. Our hotel is an excellent starting point for hiking and cycling tours. We can provide you with maps, bicycles and picnic baskets. If you want to bring your own bicycle, you can park it in our bicycle shed. At walking distance from De Swarte Ruijter you will find Natuurdiorama De Holterberg. This museum offers a good idea of the life of animals who found their habitat in the hills of the Salland region. Nearby De Swarte Ruijter you can find: - five 18-holes golfcourses. - Deventer en Zutphen, two Hanseatic towns. - several castles and castle gardens. We are happy to help you organise gamespotting tours under the guidance of a forester, "klootschieten" (traditional Dutch version of petanque), archery, survivaltrails etc.

Coming from Deventer (A1) - A1 direction Hengelo/Enschede - Take exit Lochem/Holten (exit nr. 26) - Turn left in the direction of Raalte - Follow the signs to Holterberg - Straight ahead at the first roundabout, after the crossover turn left and at the next T-junction turn left - Turn left at the next roundabout - After 50 m. follow direction Holterberg - Follow this road for approx. 1 km. You will see Restaurant Hotel Grand Café De Swarte Ruijter on your right hand. Coming from Enschede/Hengelo (A1) - A1 direction Deventer/Apeldoorn/Amsterdam - Exit at Holten/Markelo (exit nr. 27) - Drive through the centre of Holten, follow the signs to Holterberg - Turn left at the roundabout, direction Holterberg - After 50 m. follow direction Holterberg - Follow this road for approx. 1 km. You will see Restaurant Hotel Grand Café De Swarte Ruijter on your right hand.

The area is ideal for hiking, cycling and horse-back riding trips. Guests can bring their own horse upon request. Bikes are available free of charge. Deventer’s historic city centre is 15 minutes away by car. The amusement park in Hellendoorn is 14 km.
