Unwind at the Weißenstädter See recreational centre, situated only 2 kilometres from the hotel. Thanks to its prime location, the Landgasthof Birkenhof is the ideal base for hiking excursions to the top of the Fichtelgebirge mountain range. Bike enthusiasts have direct access to the mountain-bike tracks and the Egerradweg (cycle path). Other attractions in the area include the porcelain city of Selb (25 km), the historic city of Bayreuth (33 km), Waldsassen monastery (43 km) and the renowned Czech "spa triangle" of Franzensbad, Marienbad and Karlsbad.

By car: - Follow the A9 motorway until interchange Gefrees. - Continue in the direction of Weißenstadt and follow the signs. - Follow the A93 motorway until interchange Marktredwitz-Nord or Selb-Süd. - Continue in the direction of Weißenstadt and follow the signs. Please note that Schönlind bei Weißenstadt is not registered in several navigation systems. Use the term Zechenhaus instead.
